18 August 2019 – Training for a marathon is no walk in the park; preparation for the long-distance run could start as early as 12 to 20 weeks before. However, no one is truly prepared when the weather takes a turn for the worse – such can be attested by runners from last Sunday’s Kuching Marathon who had no choice but to run drenched in rainwater because rain or shine, the race must go on!
When seven out of our 22 CMS runners were caught in the heavy downpour in the midst of completing their 42km run, running became a big challenge as their clothing and shoes became heavier than they were on typical runs. As a result, our runners had continue the race chafed and blistered. While their bodies were somewhat battered, their spirits were high as they pushed on to complete the run.
Congratulations to CMS’ top runners – Mark Anthony Steacy (42km Men Open), Saiful Bahtiar (42km Men Open), Chong Wan Siang (42km Men Open), and Noraida Mohd Yusup (42km Women Open) for braving through the challenging 2019 Kuching Marathon.
