31 January 2019 – Employee volunteers from CMS group-wide worked hand in hand with the villagers of Kampung Murud Plaman in Serian to refurbish their old church which will be used as a library for the children, Sunday school venue, as well as a meeting room for the Jawatankuasa Kampung (Kampung Committee). They helped to replace the entire roof and painted both the interior and exterior of the old church. Now, the church looks as good as new! The team also made improvements to the compound and the football pitch. On top of that, the company also organised a book donation drive on 21 January 2019 to stock up the library with books for the children to read.
“We are all extremely proud of this project and the way it turned out. Kampung Murud Plaman has turned out to be the perfect pilot for our new CSR focus of ‘BUILDING SUSTAINABLE COMMUNITIES’. It shows that CSR is more than just giving for the short term; it is delivering life-changing actions for the long term,” said Jason Lee, CMS Head of Corporate Reputation & Communications.
